of our story began in the 17th century, 13 generations ago. During the first half of this century, our family worked in the vineyards. Having already been established in Verzenay's Terroir, our know-how grew, improved and diversified over the course of time.
Our evolution from vineyard operator to champagne winemaker took place at the beginning of the 20th century.
This milestone in our development marked the start of a new chapter in our journey to introduce Verzenay wines to the whole country. It was the beginning of our vision as “ Terroir entrepreneurs ”, a vision we carry on to this day.
In the 1960s, the introduction of Michel Arnould into the winery marked an important turning point in our House's development. This singular, ambitious and hard-working figure set the path for Champagne Michel Arnould & Fils in the coming decades.
In 1961, seeking total independence, he acquired the place where we stand today, at 28 rue de Mailly.
All he had on this site were a house and a plot of land. Michel's vision was to build a production facility to match his ambitions: 3 basements, 1500 sq. m, and two 4000 kg Coquard presses.
Michel was joined in 1986 by his son, Patrick, and in 1995 by his son-in-law, Thierry. He introduced them to the House following the main family values: courage, perseverance and hard work.
The Champagne Michel Arnould & Fils journey reached a new stage at the end of the 1990s, with the approval of their status as Récoltant-Manipulant.
Having worked with the family from an early age, Thierry's son Thomas joined the family Domaine in 2022. His training and past experience have given him the determination to produce wines that fully express Verzenay's Terroir. Today, this family trio is at the head of the winery. Complementary and versatile, they take turns in the vineyard, the cellar and the sales office, according to their availability and desires. How would you describe them?
